Galway is a city, a county and an experience to be relished and remembered. Galway is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe. It began as a small fishing village centred around the estuary of the River Corrib. There is a vibrancy to the friendly university city, which many delight in, and few forget. Music, festivals, horse racing,
pubs,
restaurants, shops, theatres and most of all Galway people, combine to create an atmosphere you’ll want to return to again and again.
Galway city is synonymous with
special events such as the Cúirt International Festival of Literature, the Galway Film Fleadh, the Galway Arts Festival, the famous Galway Races racing festival, the Galway International Oyster Festival and the Baboró Arts Festival for Children to name but a few. Every year the
House hotel supports and provides a base for the festival club for many of these famous events.
Galway is also the perfect gateway to tour the
West of Ireland. There is an amazing variety of special attractions such as Connemara, the Aran Islands, the Burren or the breathtaking Kylemore Abbey. You can also explore the plentiful opportunities for walking, fishing, sailing, surfing or golfing if you prefer outdoor activities.
