European Capital of Culture 2020
Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture will be the largest and most complex cultural event ever held in Ireland. Structured around the old Celtic calendar of Imbolc, Bealtaine, Lughnasa and Samhain, the year long event will begin in February and runs through until the end of January 2021. There are more than 1,900 events across 14 projects, 170 partnerships and collaborations with local, National and European & International artists and cultural organisations from over 20 countries.
Galway 2020 is a celebration of our city, islands, county, language and of course our people. It features the best of our local and national artists and cultural organisations, alongside some incredible European and international artists who together will transform the city and landscape. The ambitious programme will be unleashed throughout villages and towns, the city and the islands, and in some of most surprising and unexpected locations.
The House Hotel is proud to be supporting Galway as the Capital of Culture 2020.
During the year, you will discover events imagined into existence by artists who have Galway running through their veins, interwoven with an outsider’s view, as European artists unveil their own interpretations of these themes.
