Easter Midterm with the little ones!

Easter in Galway – Things to Do with the Kiddies!

Loughwell Farm
Loughwell Farm Park, located just 20 minutes from Galway city, is where you’ll find activities for all ages with acres of indoor and outdoor fun. This Easter the guys have created some eggtastic fun during the Easter holidays. They are open daily during the Easter School Holidays from Saturday 13th April to Sunday 28th April incl. The Easter Bunny himself will be there on Easter Saturday, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday starring in their Easter Eggtravaganza Show - Help the Easter Bunny save Easter! The show will last approx.. 20-30 minutes. The Easter Show costs extra €3.00 per child attending & each child attending will receive a full sized egg and to top it all off, the Easter shows are all indoors. Phew!

Pálás Cinema
The holidays aren’t complete without a trip to the cinema and we can’t help but recommend our neighbours, Pálás. With kid friendly films throughout the week it’s a day out for all the family. Keep an eye out for their Dog Friendly days as well – they are the best!

A Day Trip with Lally Tours
We keep saying it – they’re not just for Tourists! Have your little ones been to the Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands or Connemara? Take the hassle out of the journey and book yourself onto a tour with the fabulous crew at Lally Tours. They’ll keep you fully entertained for the day so all you have to do is sit back – and relax!

Well… we have been promised a heatwave – right? A stroll on the Prom is one of the most enjoyable family days out here in Galway. Pop into Coco or Ground and Co for a coffee to go and enjoy some of the best scenery the Wild Atlantic Way has to offer. There’s a sense of Summer around Salthill since the funfair arrived!

National Aquarium of Ireland
Staying out in Salthill a trip to our National Aquarium is ideal for all ages. Take a tour of the Aquarium or just enjoy it at your leisure. There are numerous talks throughout the day including Big Fish feeding, Rock pool tours and fresh water fish feeding.

Kiddies Afternoon Tea at The Yard
It’s no secret that we are BIG lovers of Afternoon Tea here at The Yard and we’ve ensured that everyone can enjoy it. We recently launched our Kiddies Afternoon Tea and it’s full of tasty treats for your little ones. Our Afternoon Tea is available seven days a week, but we do require you to book in advance – just to give us the heads up!

Galway City Museum – Young Creators Workshop
Have you been? Our City Museum, located at the Spanish Arch, is free! This Easter the Museum has a host of events on but the one that caught our eye was their Young Creators workshop on April 17th at 11.30am. The workshop is free and lasts approx. an hour. Join Lindsay of Toodlelou for a special paper-crafting session! (suitable for ages 2-5).

Hazel Mountain Chocolate – Burren Easter Chocolate Tour & Tasting
Ever since Hazel Mountain landed around the corner from us here in The Latin Quarter we have been OBSESSED. We have their chocolate bars in our mini bars in our rooms here in The House and they are by far the most popular item! This Easter they are hosting a Burren Easter Chocolate Tour & Tasting (and we’re wondering how we get the day off to attend!). Yes, it’s down in the Burren but the bonus is you get to enjoy the spectacular scenery en-route down there.

Taking place this Good Friday, Easter 14th at 1pm, you will get to meet their chocolate experts (how do we get that job?!), who will show you the wonders of bean to bar chocolate. Discover how a tropical fruit is being changed into one of Europe's finest chocolates. Your 45 minute tour will take you through all the stages of their chocolate making - roasting, cracking, winnowing, stonegrinding and tempering and it will include sampling of chocolate at its various stages & finishing with tasting of some of the best single origin chocolates.

An Taibhdhearc Óg’s Easter camp
Are there any budding actors or actresses in your house? An Taibhdhearc Óg’s Easter camp for young actors between 8 and 12 years of age is taking place all week at An Taibhdhearc, located just around the corner from us here in The Latin Quarter (yes - quite close to Hazel Mountain chocolate!). With everything from Improvisation, Devising, Puppetry and Mask, workshops run from 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m. every day with a short presentation of learning on final Friday of camp.

Brigit’s Garden Easter Egg Hunt
Brigit’s Garden is one of our favourite locations to recommend to guests all year round, but this Easter it’s definitely one for the kids! Celebrate a fun-filled Easter weekend with their annual family Easter Egg Hunt!
There are two types of hunt: A mini-hunt for the little ones around the four Celtic Gardens and a mighty-hunt for the older children around the nature trail. It’s a total win-win as Everyone gets a prize and the activities start anytime from 1pm onwards. Count us in! The Easter bunny (who’s going to be a busy bunny that weekend!) will be on hand while the little ones can enjoy games and arts & crafts, and have fun exploring the Celtic Gardens. Their Garden Café will be open all day serving lunch, cakes and drinks. It gets better! If you can't make it on Easter weekend, don't worry - the Easter Treasure Hunt will be available for visiting families for the rest of Easter week!
