Galway has long been renowned as one of Ireland's most picturesque seaside towns and holiday resorts. Today, Galway City is a thriving modern city. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe and is one of Irelands leading locations to live and to work in.
With Galway Harbour located in the area of Galway City it is fantastic to see plans in place for a new port with extensive business opportunities.
This Summer Galway will be host to four Cruise Liners. For more information on the upcoming schedule visit the Galway Harbour Company's website.
In particular there is great excitement around the arrival of the 'Le Soléal' ship, which will visit Galway on it's maiden Voyage this year, and will hold it's official launch here in the city.
The five-star ship, owned by Compagnie du Ponant, will carry 264 passengers in its 132 staterooms.
Captain Brian Sheridan, Harbourmaster, is looking forward to this new venture noting, "The world's media will be coming to Galway to focus on something new and something exciting. These cruise iners plan up to five years in advance so it's been a slow process but we are starting to see the benefit of the work that we've put in."
