Festival City 2015
#festivalcity

It’s July and we cannot believe it! First of all it’s been a full year since we got a little facelift and secondly we are already halfway through 2015. Madness!

If you mention the word July here in Galway the word‘festival’ automatically follows it. It’s one of our favourite times of year and this year is no exception.

Now, here is a little brief summary of what lies ahead for the next four weeks;

The Galway Film Fleadh
(@GalwayFilm)
#FilmFleadh
7th – 12th July 2015

This is Ireland’s leading festival so it’s one we’re pretty proud of here at The House. The committee are our neighbours as well actually so that always helps.

There is so much entertainment lined up for this festival and our recommendations include:
Older Than Ireland
Friday, 10th July, 20:00
Town Hall Theatre (@THTG)
A feature documentary that explores what it means to have lived one hundred years in Ireland, as seen through the eyes of our oldest citizens.

You’re Ugly Too
Saturday, 11th July, 18:00
Town Hall Theatre (@THTG)
Will is released from prison on compassionate leave to care for his niece Stacey after the death of her mother. As they both head into the sleepy Irish midlands and attempt to be a family, they suffer a series of setbacks. As their future hangs in the balance, they must search for a new way forward together.

The Galway International Arts Festival
(@GalwayIntArts)
13th – 26th July 2015
#GIAF15

From theatre to music, visual art to comedy, and dance to spectacle – this is one festival that has something for everyone.

Every July people from all over Ireland and beyond, flock to Galway for one of our most internationally recognised festivals – the Galway International Arts Festival.

This year is no different to others and with a jam-packed programme which spans over two weeks you will literally be gasping for a cocktail at the end of it!!

Trying to pick out highlights can be difficult as our own General Manager Margaret finds herself folding down nearly all page corners of the programme.

Here at The House our staff recommendations include:
Theatre
Luck Just Kissed You Hello; On stage off just across the road from us in the Mick Lally Theatre (@mlallytheatre) on Druid Lane and runs from Thursday 9th –Saturday 25th July.

The Match Box; Town Hall Theatre from Wednesday 15th– Sunday 26th July.

Music
Kodaline; 17th & 18th July, The Big Top

Sinead O’Connor with special guest John Grant; Thursday 23rd July, The Big Top

Spectacle
The Giant Divas & Les Tambours;17th & 18th July
Sponsored by The Latin Quarter
(@GalwayLatinQtr)
If you missed them preforming at Sydney Harbour or the London Olympics fear not - they're en-route to Galway! Making their way from Eyre Square through the heart of Galway's Latin Quarter this is one street spectacle not to be missed.

If you’re staying with us here throughout the festival, or just stopping in for a festival cocktail, then you’re in the heart of all the action. A short scenic stroll along the Corrib will take you up to the Big Top, you will be across the road from Druid and a stone’s throw from the hub of activity that is Quay Street and Shop Street.

Galway Races
27th July – 2nd August
(@Galway_Races)
#RaceWeekHouseParty

If there was ever a festival to get everyone all glammed up and enjoying themselves – this is it!

Rolling on straight from #GIAF15 there is no rest for the wicked as it’s quite literally right back on the horse!

With a full line up of live entertainment from Monday to Sunday The House is very much looking forward to this year’s Race Week Festival. Throw in our delicious bar bites, cocktail specials and seriously stylish bar and lobby, whether it’s pre or post racing celebrations The House is where it’s at.
