From world acclaimed events to the more obscure and unusual affairs, when it comes to festivals, Galway is hard (if not impossible) to beat. There's something for everyone and this year is no different. Check out the upcoming exciting events taking place in Galway this year.
Cúirt Festival 8th – 13thApril
We are so proud to be part of this festival again this year and this week we hosted our second Programme Launch for Cúirt which was a huge success. This is one of Galway's most unique festivals & is certainly one not to be missed.
Galway Food Festival 17th – 21st April
Our General Manager Margaret is strongly involved with this year’s Galway Food Festival and we are so excited here at The House. Last year we hosted the Festival’s Special Guest Mr. Neven Maguire who went down a treat.
This year it’s going to be even bigger and better and will include an extended food village on the banks of the Corrib, open-air markets, restaurant trails, cookery demonstrations, food tours to local artisan producers, foraging trips,food talks, tastings, wine and beer workshops, a meet the producers forum, lots of local produce, kids activities and family fun days.
Here at The House Hotel we will yet again be in full festival spirit and we’re currently pulling together our part of the programme… stay tuned!
Galway Film Fleadh 8th-13thJuly
Ireland’s leading film festival is a six day international film event held every July and welcomes a mad diversity of film making from around the world.
The Fleadh is very much a film lovers’ festival, and attracts directors, actors, cinematographers and artists of all generations and cultural backgrounds.
Always attracting some of the world’s best known personalities the Galway Film Fleadh is always a huge attraction.
Galway Arts Festival 14th – 27th July
This is Ireland's largest international arts festival and we are so proud to be in the middle of all the! The launch of this festival keeps people talking today's and queue’s at the ticket office seem to commence almost immediately!
The Festival showcases a wide variety of international artists alongside the best of Irish talent and includes music (popular, contemporary, jazz, world,classical and traditional), theatre (indoor and outdoor), visual arts, dance,talks, discussions, family events and comedy in its programme.
Galway Races 28th July – 3rd August
Adrenalin-pumping action, heart-stopping finishes and breath-taking fashion; you are at the Galway Races. And when the Races stop – The House is the only place to be!
Veteran race goers, and indeed those who simply love the atmosphere, travel from around the world for the unique experience that is, the Galway Races. The Galway Races is certainly a festival for everyone. The Festival runs for seven consecutive days at Galway Racecourse and this year will run from the 28th July to the 3rd August.
International Oyster Festival 25th– 28th September
Each September, Galway City comes alive with seafood & oysters as it celebrates the Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival, the most internationally recognised food festival in Ireland and the world's longest running International Oyster Festival.
Throughout the festival, a host of tantalising events to whet your appetite will take place, including; a seafood trail in some of Galway city’s finest restaurants, the Festival Opening night - showcasing Galway's seafood heroes,the National Oyster Opening Championship, The Food village at The Festival Marquee, the World Oyster Opening Championship, a Mardi Gras gala event through the streets of Galway and the Tribal Oyster Feast Off Finale with family activities, live music, cooking demonstrations, 'Hot Oyster Awards' cooking challenge and jive & jazz.
